Galco would like to recognize
American Legion/STAR Post #309 in Los Angeles, CA. The post held a
fund-raising event that netted a $2923 donation to the Holster for Heroes™
program. This donation resulted in 36 shoulder holster systems being
distributed to Soldiers deploying out of Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Riley, KS.
Mr. Arthur Zuhlke and Ms. Ruth Nelson were instrumental in this excellent
effort to get high-quality holsters to American troops. Galco would like to
thank them, and Post #309, on behalf of the troops who received the donated
holsters. Galco would also like to recognize American Legion Post 44 and VFW Post 3093, both of Worland, Wyoming. The two posts have so far donated a total of $2000 to the Holster for Heroes™ program. These donations resulted in 25 shoulder holster systems being distributed to Army National Guard Soldiers already deployed in Iraq. Mr. Don Hall’s assistance was invaluable in getting these holsters to the Soldiers already in the theater of battle. Galco thanks him, and all involved at Posts 44 and 3093, for their very generous donations and tireless efforts to support the troops! |

The Holsters for Heroes™
program provides patriotic Americans a way to actively and effectively
support individual members of the armed forces deploying to the Middle East.
Many service members strongly prefer a quality leather shoulder system to
the synthetic flap holsters issued by the military. We at Galco, along with
some of our loyal customers, have taken note of the high demand for our
shoulder holster systems among the courageous American military personnel
who are fighting the ongoing War on Terrorism. The vast majority of Galco
holsters sent to personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan have been purchased with
the private funds of service members and their families. Galco elected to
help support these fine men and women by instituting the Holsters for
Heroes™ program. Galco will send these holsters to Veteran’s Service Organizations (VSOs),
who will distribute them to members of the armed services deploying to the
Middle East. Unit commanders select recipients on the basis of rank,
economic need, and military performance. Enlisted service members holding
lower rank, and consequently of lesser pay grade, are given priority.
Colonel Lonnie Barham (US Army), when told of the Holsters for Heroes™
program, commented, “We have hundreds of enlisted Soldiers here who will
be carrying the M9 in theater – they are our SECFOR units who will perform
combat MP tasks.”
