Galco’s high successful Holsters for Heroes™ program ran from 2005 through 2012. The program provided patriotic Americans a way to actively and effectively support individual members of the armed forces deploying (or already deployed) to the Middle East.

Many service members strongly prefer a quality leather shoulder system to the synthetic flap holsters issued by the military. We at Galco, along with some of our loyal customers, took note of the high demand for our shoulder holster systems among the courageous American military personnel who are fighting the ongoing War on Terrorism. The vast majority of Galco holsters sent to personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan have been purchased with the private funds of service members and their families. Galco elected to help support these fine men and women by instituting the Holsters for Heroes™ program.

In order to best assist our nation’s military personnel, Galco offered two-for-one pricing on every Holsters for Heroes™ donation. Each time a customer donated a Vertical Shoulder Holster System, in tan for the M9 (Beretta 92FS), Galco shipped two holsters for the same cost as a single regularly priced holster. The donor’s name and contact information were passed on to the recipients of both holsters, unless the donor elected to remain anonymous.

Galco sent these holsters to Veteran’s Service Organizations (VSOs), who distributed them to members of the armed services deploying to the Middle East. Unit commanders generally selected recipients on the basis of rank, economic need, and military performance. Enlisted service members holding lower rank, and consequently of lesser pay grade, were given priority. Galco, along with our contacts in the military and in the VSOs, made every effort to ensure that donations go to those enlisted service members who most needed and deserved a high quality holster to carry in the course of their deployment.

Galco is very proud to have run this successful program for seven years. As one Army officer said, “It's a great idea. Not only will it save the taxpayer some money, it will ensure high quality holsters, will boost Soldier morale, and will get American citizens involved – something that always helps a country win wars.”

A total of over $100,000 in donated holsters were shipped to deployed/deploying armed forces members between 2005 and 2012. Galco and our partners in the VSOs coordinated donations of holsters to units of:
